Rotary Club of Cherthala Town was chartered on 26.12.1991 as Rtn.N.C.Nair as the Charter President, late Rtn.George Kadavan as the Charter Secretary and Rtn.Thankachan.T.Kadavan as the Charter Treasurer. 31 members were inducted as charter members. Now the club meets on every Friday at 8pm in the Rotary community Hall, near Anthraper Gardens, Cherthala.

In 1996 the club constructed a building of its own near T.B Cherthala. So far 20 Presidents chaired the club for 1 year each. The club’s monthly bulletin ‘Rotary Round About’ is published with the dinner meetings. The club’s prestigious continuous project for 1st to 4th std students ‘Rotary Balolsav’ is conducted every year in November which participated 2400 children in 2010-11.

The club won many awards over the years for innovative ideas and projects. But the zenith was reached in 2009-10 under the leadership of Rtn.M.P.H.F A.C Santhakumar which won almost all zonal and districts awards including the best club, best President and best Secretary Rtn.P.P P.H.F Xavier Pollayil. This stand out year also witnessed a record 11 members newly joining. The A/C 250 Capacity state of the new club building stands as the souvenir of this golden year in the club history.

In 2011 a weekly bulletin ‘Friday Chronicle’ was an innovation by the bulletin editor Rtn.P.P R.Krishnaprasad. Club theme for the year “The One In Me” signifies the personality development training apart from the different charity projects and Medical and Dental camps.Kaithiri-a DRI loan mela with the co-operation from Indian Bank, is a unique project of the club envisaging to help 100 B.P.L families to earn a livelihood. Poothiri Beach fest, Euphoria are all infinite expansion of fellowship which already attracted 11 members to join the club this year. The club plans 100 projects to be completed before July 2011.
